Jason studied film at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts, where he received the 'Excellence in Filmmaking' Award. His thesis film, "eclipse", premiered at the Telluride Film Festival and won â€˜Top Prizeâ€™ at the Student Academy Awards. In 2016, the Academy of Motion Pictures digitally restored the original 16mm negative of "eclipse" for preservation.

Jason's two award-winning feature films, "Laura Smiles" and "Sam & Joe", have shown at festivals around the world and have received glowing reviews from some of the nations top critics and publications. Jason's yet to be produced screenplays have advanced in many of the top competitions, including Nicholl, Austin, ScreenCraft, PAGE, Big Break, BlueCat, and more.

Jason currently lives in downtown Los Angeles.

In "Eclipse" a child survivor wanders barefoot across a stunningly evocative landscape. Director Jason Ruscio expresses the profound loneliness of a decimated world through richly textured images that bring to mind the films of Andrei Tarkovsky – burned out interiors, hands grasping to hold each other, time-worn photographs and faceless soldiers in the snow.
