After 3 episodes, I feel like I can make a fair judgement of this new Vance Gilligan show, and I think this is quite overrated so far. Yes the premise is super interesting, and the lead actress is good, but there are glaring problems.
First of all, the show has the typical slow exposition scenes that Vince Gilligan is known for. It gives it has a certain style, but it can also get boring when you have people going through their day doing menial tasks for several minutes with nothing happening. I think they could cut 15 minutes of each episode without losing anything, and in fact make the pacing better.
The main character is also problematic. What Carol goes through is traumatic for sure, but somehow she never manages to ask the real questions that anyone with half a brain would have asked by now. "Why are you helping me? Why are you taking care of me and doing everything I ask for? Why can't you kill animals for food when it's the logical thing to do and most humans in the world would have no problem with it?" She's also angry all the time and it gets aggravating.
So yeah, we'll see how the rest of the season goes, and I'll update in due time if my rating changes.

Probably one of the top UK shows I watch, but season 5 was a very awkward mess of tone-deaf social messaging that we have no appetite for.
Also many of the characters felt off in the latest season, like River who now seems very incompetant and keeps getting himself into trouble, the bad kind, instead of being a go-getter willing to bend the rules.
Depending on what happens with season 6, I would skip this one and end watching at season 4.

Season 1 of this show was a high production, slow burner sci-fi with great writing and intelligent story-telling. I enjoyed it very much, 8/10.
But something happened with season 2, it's like they handed off the show to a different team, and the credits confirm this. The writing and story became abysmal with all the characters turning into clichés. The new billionnaire CEO in particular is the most annoying and poorly written character I have ever seen. All the scientists in fact are not behaving like scientists at all, they just dismiss new phenomenons on the thing that they are studying (wtf!). Oh, and the mysterious out-of-this-world alien beings became these boring dog-like animals, they're very lame and made for low IQ audience.
Season 3 continues with the atrocious writing. The first few episodes were so bad I cringed at all the stupid things the characters do for no reason, as well as at the bad dialog that doesn't flow well because they're just trying to forcefully get to the next story point. It was stiking how all the dialog was confrontational. Every character goes on emotional angry rant all the time even when they're supposed to like each other and work together. It's so bad and amateurish, it seems written by people who don't know how social interations work.
Anyhow, I'm glad this is over, I'm just sad it went so bad after season 1.
