Pixar's Elemental (2023) is a vibrant swirl of color, culture, and clever metaphor. On the surface, it's a quirky love story between Ember (fire) and Wade (water), but dig a little deeper, and you'll find a layered narrative about immigration, identity, and emotional growth.
This is interesting because Elemental balances heart and humor in a way that sneaks up on you. What really grabbed me, though, was the animation-absolutely stunning. Every frame pops with life and creativity. The way the elements move, interact, and emote is seriously next-level. It actually gave me The Wild Robot (2024) vibes-something about the emotion conveyed through nature-inspired visuals, the atmosphere, and how it feels both whimsical and grounded.
While the plot may follow some familiar Pixar patterns, there's an emotional sincerity that makes it feel fresh. Ember's personal journey-struggling between honoring her family's legacy and finding her own path-resonates deeply, especially with the immigrant experience so beautifully woven in.
Elemental may not be Pixar's boldest film, but it's quietly powerful, visually captivating, and emotionally genuine.

Series 6 of Childish Dad has just started, and it's already off to a hilarious and brilliant start!
In Aldi Goes to Her Store, we see Childish Dad back to his usual antics, throwing a massive tantrum just because he couldn't get his favorite Walkers crisps. It's exactly the kind of funny, over-the-top chaos that makes this show so special. Aldi trying to deal with him while staying patient made it even funnier.
The beginning of Series 6 shows that the creators haven't lost any of the charm that made the earlier seasons so great - if anything, it's even better now. The humor feels fresh, and the characters are as entertaining as ever. If this episode is anything to go by, Series 6 is going to be one of the best yet.
