Although I'm only giving it an 8/10, I still believe this show can reach the same heights as Bojack. At first I thought this was going to be a more traditional sitcom, but from the last few episodes it's going the Bojack route but still managing to keep it's own identity. I love non linear storytelling and it works very well here. The comedy is top notch as expected. And even though I am very unfamiliar with Jewish culture, I think the show does a good job of making it relatable from the family aspect. I love the art style, especially the not so subtle way that it makes the main characters stick out in crowded areas. The only downsides to this show in my opinion are that some episodes like the matress one feel a bit unnecessary and the fact that the show doesn't have a clear protagonist makes it a bit difficult to get attached to these characters. But even so the characters have enough personality and suprising depth to keep me engaged. I really liked this first season and I'm glad the second season is confirmed because I know this show can be amazing.
This show is one of my all time favourites because personally, it delivers everything I want in a show. It has an interesting plot, loveable and complex characters, occasionally stunning visuals, excellent score, creative art design, and masterful storytelling. But most of all this show is special because ot made me feel all sorts of emotions deep in my heart. It is hilarious, tense, horrifying, relatable, and most of all, heartbreaking. This show about talking animals has left me feeling hollow and depressed more times than I can count. It is geniunely a masterpiece and I don't say that lightly.
