Really great and surprising. While it may not be the most original, the characters really hold it up. It's much more of a character comedy more than a situational comedy.
It has it's own personality, I LOVE the songs, and it got me so invested and connected I was in tears at one particular episode, and while season three isn't as strong as the first two, due to it falling into British tv tropes more than I'd like, it still got me. I was genuinely quite sad and close to tears by the finale, I loved the moment with Val, and the final mortal kombat game between Andy and Errol.
It was so cathartic and heart wrenching simultaneously to see Andy do what he's been struggling with the whole series, show his feelings.
Overall, great show, I can recommend it, and it struck quite a chord with me so yeah, great.
An episode so true to these characters and the quirky style of the show. The structure of it is a bit hard to grasp at first but pays off great in the end. There's some moments that just work so well in this, it was so sad and also comforting in a way to see Errol confront cancer and death face to face in the form of a distressed teen struggling to accept death herself. Or when Ben can't admit how much he really loves Sam, or the fact that Bruce tries to hide his tears so hard for Sam, and Andy struggling with his drug addiction in one of the hardest days of his life, but the episode isn't dreary one bit! It's funny as it is poignant, and this is as important an episode for Andy and the family as it is for Sam facing cancer. Great song too.
I've loved watching this series, and this episode really managed to stay true to it's characters and themes in a hilarious and emotional way that got me so much better than anything I've watched in a while.
It's a very creative movie, and what stood out to me was how honest it felt. I loved how it felt like a stage show musical.
Elton John produced the movie so that automatically adds a lot more value to it. Tarron Egerton is fantastic. Elton John himself said (about Egerton) "it was like watching myself."
So there's a lot here, and the emotion does work. Although it has it's flaws and isn't in some ways fully accomplished, it is a really enjoyable, but also emotional and dramatic cinematic ride. My rating might change.
