Can't say enough about this series, except it needs more seasons.
Story pace is perfect, slow but steady. Not the excess of red herrings to sort out.
Character development is satisfying while surprising.
Gleeson, Lupe, Wool, and surprisingly Mulgrew were all perfectly cast and brilliantly acted. Would have liked more Nancy Travis and Bruce Dern.
The blood and gore were necessarily explicit but not excessively prolonged.
Don't be tempted to "skip intro". They vary a bit and I didn't want to miss a second of Gleeson.
Brendan Gleeson and Justine Lupe could easily do a detective duo series alone. Their character quirks and personalities mesh so beautifully!

These guys are folksy, people-pleasing southern gentlemen, fun to watch. They fix everything. Any species. Not just spays/neuters, dislocated hips, and displaced abomasums. But love them both and their entire staff. They're eager to educate and support aspiring young veterinarian hopefuls. Best practice displayed re: sterility, PPE and always good with pain control and infection control. I only have 2 mild complaints. They spend very little time recommending spay/neuter. And I can only watch two episodes before I need a break from Dr. Hodges' voice. Baritone AND soprano in every sentence. I'm disappointed that Hulu is dropping this show.
