Bad characterization of all of the characters, rushed story, and the events of the book are done so differently that I couldn't stop facepalming. Cornelia Funke's book is a treasure of a read, this is a bastardization of it and a lousy attenpt of trying to be How to Train Your Dragon which they shamelessly have posters of in the film.
Even from a standpoint of being a generic children's movie for parents to take their children to see, it falls so much shorter than How To Train Your Dragon or even The Good Dinosaur in levels of animation and the music too. I wish the studio actually followed the source material because the book was far too long to make into one movie.
