The Batman (2022)
Just Okay. It felt cheesy...
A couple of things that stuck out to me...
1) Selina just saw that her girlfriend was missing and is pretty nonchalant about it, walks into her destroyed apartment to grab a glass of milk. Weird.
2) very shortly after she finds out her girlfriend died, makes out with Batman.
3) the best detective in the world didn't understand the difference between "el" and "la" in Spanish
4) the best detective in the world also didn't think to analyze the murder weapon and didn't think to try and understand what that tool would normally be used for. Especially with a psycho on the loose who loves to leave jokes and riddles.
5) no one thought to track riddlers IP address or why would they put full clips of him torturing people on the news ( this part felt more cheesy than anything imo)
6) Bruce Wayne gave no reason for people to like him, so why were so many people emphasizing that they were gaga over him.
7) the riddler wanted to take out corrupt people and people he thought were bad, but also tried to drown Gotham.
8) I think the point I'm trying to make here is that I ended up with more questions of "why were there so many open ended things?" I just felt like there were a lot of side things going on that distract from the main point. Also I felt that there really wasn't too much of a climax and I never felt at the edge of my seat. I didn't think it was very dark or scary or edgy either, but felt that it was trying to be. Anyway it's my opinion and it wasn't my favorite.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
Simulatte
I gave this a 7/10 because there is more I liked than I didn't. I felt like the progression of the story was slow, and they did spend a lot of time remaking old nostalgic scenes from the past. I did like a lot of the new things they added although nothing felt groundbreaking about it. Yet I'm still so torn because I loved it. I felt similar to when I watched the original trilogy, it gave you a lot to think about. I want to watch it again because I feel like this is something I need to absorb at least twice.
Headspace: Guide to Meditation (2021)
Letting Go in Stressful Times
This is absolutely Brilliant, it's a perfect way to get yourself into meditation. I love the animations, it keeps it engaging and also has a very relaxing tone to every episode. Andy presents the information in a way that anyone can grasp, making it easy to understand. His stories are relatable, and his guidance is much appreciated. I would love to see the show come out with even more seasons. This show is the gift that keeps giving. This is very beneficial in helping with stress and anxieties, and helps to train yourself so no matter what times life brings you, you have a way to help yourself and the people you love. With practice these meditations can bring a lot more peace and balance to your life, I know it does for me.
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
A beautiful haunting
I will start by saying I loved the acting, cinematography, music, and a lot of the writing. This show has a very good way of talking about death, they mastered it in hill house and they mastered it yet again in this season of Bly Manor. The scares were not bad, I definitely picked up on a pattern and found them easy to predict. I did feel that some of the characters fell a little flat towards the end, and I was hoping for a little bit different of an ending. I also thought it was weird how at the end when Viola possessed Dani, Dani could still leave the property? Maybe I didn't get that part, but it was odd. Another thing (maybe I didn't get it) was how the kids didn't remember anything except that they stayed at bly for the summer, yet when Jamie tells the love story... the only thing Flora thought was a coincidence was the name Flora. This is just my opinion, I still think it's worth watching and it has a lot of good messages behind it.
Paddington 2 (2017)
Pleasantly Surprised!!
I wasn't expecting much going into this movie, but I was actually surprised at how well it was made. The cgi / graphics were incredible, and the storyline was so cute! It was so creative, and I loved the cinematography and colors. It wrapped up really nice, and it seemed like every part of the story had a purpose.
X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019)
10 STARS
Listen, please go see it for yourself. I almost listened to the bad reviews, and I would have missed out on a truly amazing film! Acting, filming, directing, and story were amazing. The story went into great depth, it was worth every penny spent!
