What a terrible family dynamic.
It'd be interesting to poll reviewers, and see if there's a correlation between people raised in broken homes, and a positive view of this movie.
The conservatives warning about the destruction of morals & shared values in the 1980's were right. This is the kind of junk being praised by some people as setting a "good example".
There's not much else to say, that hasn't been already said in a variety of similar movies. Learn from the past - don't promote the trash of Hollywood in your home. But that's something we've all known for decades. Character limit incoming.

I went in only knowing the title.
It's a pretty odd movie.
Big cast Large budget Pretty competent sets, lighting, filmmaking in general. CGI was pretty bad in many areas, but could be forgiven.
I wonder what the story was of Weintraub Entertainment Group. It looks like they made half-a-dozen movies, then went bankrupt or got divvied up into Columbia/Sony.
I think the biggest room for improvement was the editing. I'd like to see another cut of this movie. And maybe a PG rating would have improved sales. I think the PG 13 stuff was all centered around sex - it seems like that could have been easily cut.
Overall I think I enjoyed it. The cast really drags it up - especially Basinger. It felt like a set with high morale. I think it'll be one of those movies I forget about in 15 years & watch again. It's not really the type of movie that should be judged harshly, regardless. I could see a TV cut being popular.
