I knew nothing of this film going in to it. Yet within 15 - 20mins you know exactly how the story is going to unwind.
There wasn't anything nuanced in the story telling. Reasonably well acted, certainly no fault of the actors for the failure of this film to really draw you in. Just the direction and story are lacking.
There's large expectation on the viewer to just know why something is happening, which leaves even larger plot holes.
Why do some characters suddenly have deep infatuations with someone they know little about. Why would they allow said character to get away with what they did.
I feel this was rushed to meet a budget deadline rather than explored as it should have been.

The first episode was ok and we thought perhaps it's building to something. Unfortunately it doesn't.
The story just gets worse, some of the acting is awful and it's such a shame as the talent available on screen are some of Britains finest, Sue Johnston, Robert Lindsay, Michael Smiley to name a few are all incredible when they have the material to work with. However they're given such unbelievable scripts that it's laughable.
This could have been a great British tv series but it just feels like they creators were given a day to write it, a day to film it and a day to put it together. Shame.
