I'm up to episode 11 in the first season, so it's engaged me enough to get that far.
I have to say though, that they REALLY need some new writers...GOOD writers that know how to spin suspense (there is none) write dialogue (WAY to cliche from WAY too many TV shows in the last 30 years) and just easy to not pay attention to as you kind of drift in and out of even listening - yes, it's that bad.
A whole lot of gratuitous stuff going on. Justin Hartley shirtless for no real reason, just to give viewers some beefcake. The two lesbians who give him his assignment...the lesbian showcase seems way too gratuitous and trying to 'check all the boxes'. If ya really want to pander to the LGBTQ, how bout making Justin Hartley gay? Or even Bi? Nah...that's too much gay, right? Better to just stick with a token or two. *eye roll*. The tech support - same, two prosthetic legs to showcase 'look, we include the handicapped - or is it handicapable?
Overall, it's a very B-rate series, but in light of what else is available to watch, it kills an hour pretty passively.

1) Bad acting. Yes Nathan Lane is usually great fun. Yes Matt Bomer is usually pretty good too. But I had to look away from the TV several times during the first two episodes because they were so very very bad. Flaming, overacting, awful...just awful.
2) Bad writing. I get that this is the Will and Grace team, and honestly, I didn't care for Will and Grace for the whole first season. So as painful as it is to watch these actors do what they can with an embarrassingly bad script, I'll give it a few more episodes to see if they can do something with it. After their painfully embarrassing attempt reviving Will and Grace a couple of years ago though, I gotta say I'm not optimistic. I don't think Lighting striking twice with this one is in the weather report.
3) Insultingly cliche and degrading portrayal of gays - old and young. I lived in Palm Springs for a few years and left because too many people there were actually very much like these characters...affected, not funny, not really even bitchy...but trying so hard that it's just sad. Palm Springs is a big joke among Angelinos for good reason...and this joke plays to that sad stereotype that has people laughing uncomfortably at them, not with them.

Firstly, time jumps are soooo over. It's a hackneyed trick for lazy writers who don't understand how to write well so they think this vehicle adds attention they otherwise would've lost early on in. If the time jumps aren't integral plot points, (e.g., Bill and Ted go back in time to learn about history) don't use them. Period.
Secondly, not a single character is compelling. The character developments are predictable and trite at best. Real high school stuff.
Thirdly, the mystery gimmicks (hiding someone's name; hiding who the letter's from, etc) aren't mysterious and really, no one cares.
Just nothing here to see, with the possible exception of Ben Rappaport.
Back to film class for the lot of you!!
