Benjamin Troubles is one of those movies that is truly a hidden gem. If you want to see a genuinely great movie that many people (unfortunately) have never heard of, this is it. It deserved to be in the major cinemas. It's a dark comedy, action romance, thriller that all fits together perfectly. It has a great, modern, and believable script that is very well acted. It can be difficult to find a great script in which an addict and dealer is able to escape the hell they live in, but this is one of them because it is believable. The three main actors are exceptional. You see and feel the pain, fear, frustration, and surprise of the three main characters as performed by Manu Intirayami (Ben), Mishel Prada (Nova), and Phillip Andre Botello (Miles). Manu Intirayami stands in particular as he has always had the acting skill and charisma that draws you to watch him even the focus is on another actor and their character. That's true talent. In this movie, he has two strong co-stars which is something that hasn't always had. However, this helps him shine even more. There is never a dull moment and there is a truly unexpected ending. Additionally, The cinematography is excellent. The technique of jump cuts and slow motion are used sparingly and only at the most effective and appropriate moments. This is an exceptional film - watch it!
This is how you are supposed to make great movies. This movie was a surprise to me. I generally like time travel sci-fi movies, but they can easily become convoluted, confusing, and most importantly devoid of any emotion and passion. Mirage was a pleasant surprise. Great story with several plot lines that come together successfully at the end. The actors did an amazing job. It's very difficult for me to not find anything negative, but I really can't. Excellent. As I'm fluent in Spanish, I didn't watch the dubbed version, but I'm certain it wouldn't lose anything in the translation.
