Ive always been a fan of the MI series ever since the first one came out in '96. Each film came with edge of your seat action, fresh ideas and alot of energy. However i was pretty disappointed with Dead reckoning part 1 as i felt it just dragged on with not alot of excitement. Part 2 continued on that same trajectory. Alot of talking mumbo jumbo n over explaining everything. There was also too much nostalgia moments. The movie was very long n slow. Cruise looked like he lacked energy n the other characters were fine but didnt have much to do unlike earlier installments. The underwater scenes were fairly tame and lacked any intensity n by the time the main stunt came at the end, we were way over it and were looking forward to it being over.
I was really looking forward to this one. When i saw the trailer i thought it would be a really fun and funny movie to watch. They had advance screenings playing at Hoyts cinemas so iwent along. Unfortunately in terms of humour, most of the funny spots were in the trailer which meant the movie paced along like a humourless adventure movie with a lack of adventure. The actors did a good enough job with what they had to work with. The biggest problem was the movie didnt know what it wanted to be. The sub plot with the random couple tramping was stupid n took the movie way off track. And the behaviour of the couple in the tent (with one really dodgy line) followed by the video of them, i thought totally derailed the movie.
This had the potential to be a fun movie along the lines of The Hunt for the Wilderpeople but instead falls way flat. It definitely needed a Taika Waititi touch to it.

Stumbled upon this one while scrolling through Prime video and thought i would give it a go. Very happy i did as it turned out to be quite a good one. The two characters coming from different backgrounds but with simillar struggles finding each other in an italian city and immediately connecting is an interesting concept. The most appealing thing about this movie is the conversations and connections between these two strangers feel spontaneous, organic and they come across so natural between the leads as if there isnt even a script. It made this movie feel quite real and genuine. Both actors were outstanding and the itallian backdrop and food looked beautiful.
Highly recommend.
