This movie tries so hard to be an action-comedy; however, there is no comedy in this movie. The action scenes aren't terrible; I just don't care. The plot is so bland, and if you don't know who the bad guy is 20 minutes into the movie, this is the first movie you've ever seen.
Only thing that saves this movie from a 0/10 is Elba and the creative ideas from the director. Story is cliche and predictable. Characters are entirely 1-dimensional.
AI created this plot, and let's stop pretending like it didn't. Action for action's sake never works. You have to make us care first. Unfortunately, this movie has no idea how to develop characters, only create situations for action sequences I don't care about.

This show isn't the worst. You would think that with the elements included it would be funnier though. It does get some laughs out of me, but why is everyone's performances so phoned in? Every line and action comes across like "this is definitely what a sitcom would do."
All the dialogue is so forced; 90% of the jokes are so hammy it evokes an eye roll; none of the character motivations make complete sense; the kids are annoying; and the laugh track will make you want to never watch a sitcom again.
I'm a fan of Allen, so I will probably continue watching regardless. But unless you have my weird nostalgia for that style of humor, there is nothing here for you. Moving on.

Do I think this show is amazing, or perfect? Absolutely not. It definitely has some growing to do. But nowadays, it's so difficult to find a sitcom whose main goal is to just try to be funny. And even though, I think this show can be very inconsistent, and not thought out 100%, it definitely makes me laugh regularly. So, I will continue to show up for this one.
I love the absurd situations we find ourselves in. I love the wildly diverse characters delivering their own style of humor in contrast to the others. I love that we get small glimpses into the characters without sacrificing any of the comedy. Not my favorite show, but in my opinion, the best sitcom out at the moment.
