The film is capable of building tension, the main character is real and from the beggining it's easy for the audience to feel the story. However, in my opinion, the film fails in the attempt of mixing realism with surrealism (which i think was the goal). The dive remains much at the surface, which leads to the final twist not to be impactfull at all. The environment is well built, but it lacks a snap of surrealism.
At times, specially in the second half of the film, i was feeling that the direction could have been bolder, darker and distopian. Instead, it was a little predictable.
Maybe because this film was too personal, as the director stated, i'm curious to see the next features of him, as perhaps being more distant to the story will allow it to go weirderer. All the potential is there.

Apart of political affaires, this is a nice iceland film. Beautiful photography, great acting. I tend to agree that has some short film tics, because the mountain scenes are extremly intense, pin to screen, but all the scenes exploring the relationships of the main character always seem that something is missing, that it could've gone beyond.
The out-of-the-box, original, abstract, maybe methaporic inner pulse musicians are, of course, the thing about this film.
Now about the political issues (always on cinema sight) : the only thing i want to say is films about hot themes and current discussions are easily predictable, lazy, moralist and redundant. This one isn't any of them.

The film is complex, not because its plot (it's not confusing), but due to all the philosophy underlying.
The images of the greenhouse are absolutely beautiful and the scenes that take place there rule the beat of the film.
As the director said in a film presentation, the camera has its own will, as it sometimes loses the plan of the characters and the dialogues, searching, perhaps, for a meaning hidden somewhere else. Also the soundtrack is very special, not just amplifying the mood of a scene, but sometimes dissonant and controlling it.
One of the best films of this year's festival season. Deep and original. Much underrated here in IMDB.
