One-sentence summary: A standard suburban man's ideology changes once he becomes friends with his charismatic neighbor.
As an avid fan of the show "I Think You Should Leave", I've become fairly familiar with Tim Robinson's unique brand of comedy. He regularly makes me laugh with his patented awkward style of humor, and Friendship carries on that torch proudly. Throughout the movie, I found myself cackling uncontrollably while simultaneously covering my eyes due to the sheer discomfort of the self-inflicted situations Robinson's character found himself in. The film moves swiftly from one bit to the next and manages to weave some compelling thematic elements as well. If your sense of humor isn't on Robinson's wavelength I can see how you might not enjoy this movie, but if it is, you are in for quite the comedic treat.

One-sentence summary: After an unceremonious fall from grace, Happy Gilmore attempts a career resurgence to raise enough money to send his daughter to a prestigious dance academy.
Happy Gilmore 2 may have generated impressive viewership numbers on Netflix, but I can confidently say it was one of the least enjoyable movie-watching experiences I've had this year. With dispensable cameos in nearly every scene, Sandler's approach seemed to involve throwing everything but the kitchen sink at the screen and hoping something would stick. The film was unfunny, lacked personality, and felt designed to be watched in clips on TikTok by people with embarrassingly short attention spans. When the movie wasn't busy rehashing beloved elements from the original film, it introduced narrative elements so idiotic they made me physically cringe. Adam Sandler and Netflix's partnership appears to have been beneficial for everyone but the audience.

One-sentence summary: A squad of soldiers becomes trapped after being ambushed by Iraqi insurgents.
Watching Warfare was an experience I won't soon forget. It offers a brutal, absolutely unglamorized depiction of armed conflict, with no agenda other than to memorialize the group of soldiers who endured this tragic event. The directing duo of Garland and Mendoza artfully captures the carnage depicted by the dedicated cast led by Will Poulter. The production design, while simple, is expertly crafted and noticeably contributed to the authenticity of the film. Over the past decade, A24 has transformed itself into one of the premier studios, and consistently releases high quality original stories helmed by skilled filmmakers. Although the subject matter and intense violence may make Warfare a difficult watch at times, I can confidently say that it is a required viewing for nearly everyone.
