This is not a funny comedy-drama. But it is definitely a strong indictment of the U. S. healthcare system, their hospitals and insurers, and Christianity versus morality. It is filled with strong character portrayals. I'm not sure if U. S. citizens can appreciate the poorness of their healthcare system as someone from a country without a universal system can, but this film illustrates some of the inherent failures of this country's 'healthcare' system.
Superbly-shot classic not only inspired Billy Idol's song of the same name, but completely defied the rules of horror. Gone are shock, vulgarity and screeching music in favour of emotion and disbelief.
I gave this a four out of ten because it was mildly entertaining. But it Rips off a LOT from Full Metal Jacket, Platoon and Apocalypse Now. A LOT. Closing with Tom Waits' A Soldier's Things was one of the few highlights of this terribly overrated movie.
