I've been watching the various Bay-verse Transformers saga, but Bumblebee does not fit into the Bay-verse. In my opinion this movie doesn't work as a prequel to Bay-verse. If it was meant to be a prequel, then they missed the mark completely.
They missed the mark of a prequel by completely disregarding the history and story line for Bumblebee. Saying that he only been on Earth a few decades instead of millennia.
Now maybe this movie could have been better promoted as a reboot to the series. Being that Bumblebee was among the first of the Cybertronian to be encountered on Earth. If they had gone with this premise I think that people would have received the movie with more enthusiasm than they did.

I'm a fan Shirow Masamune, his works are usually very good. But XIII was the worst. All it really is is a psuedo retelling of the Labors of Heracles, set in the world of Appleseed. It was long, slow and overwhelming complicated. Even the movie versions of the first twelve episodes were horrible. Pass on this and hope for better in the next showing.
