A young couple, just married, ignore the sign to not trespass. The moral of the film is obey the signs, but the movie has few morals. The main wardrobe item is a pair of daisy dukes, if they are even wearing anything. Even the guards are topless. If one took out scenes with nudity, there would only be a very short film left. The story is nothing new. The warden gets prisoners, and for this film, they all were apparently cast from a modeling agency, for a corrupt Governor, who naturally is married but impotent. He also likes to play a game, and it involves a naked woman trying to escape, and a rifle. It gets boring and predictable. But plenty of full frontal.
It has its moments, and the main reason to watch is the performance of Ray Nicholson as Paul, a psychopath, is in love with Sofia. The entire movie is a set up for the wedding of Paul and Sofia. Sofia is a star, who has personal security, but seems unable to make decisions when it counts, although she finally did get pushed over the edge and acted. I am not sure what the movie intended itself to be, and there were many directions the movie wandered off into. They brought in Penny, an equally psychotic person, but why? It could have been really good, but they pulled their punches and wandered around. Still it had its fun times.
James has a much different expectation from his date with Kristen, and has an engagement ring to give her. He even has his friend Mike dress up the house he intends to go to with rose petals spread throughout the house. However, Kristen simply isn't ready, so the celebration at the house isn't happening. James decides to take a drive, and while at the house, Kristen experiences lots of things that go bump in the night. And when she realizes there is someone inside the house, she is stricken with terror. And nice subtlety showing how she realized she was not alone in the house. She manages to call James, and he returns, expecting to play the role of White Knight rescuing his damsel in distress. He was certain there was no one in the house until he realizes he was wrong. And the strangers are ruthless, and there seems absolutely no reason for what they are doing. The movie portrays the sense of helplessness against the strangers, and the horror they experience. The second half may seem a bit slow, but it builds the terror. A satisfying movie, although it is inspired by actual events, not meaning it actually happened, as this is a guess of how it could have happened.
