Star Trek: Section 31
Why is there so much hate?
I honestly have to say that I do NOT understand why this movie has attracted SO much HATRED from so many viewers, a lot of whom identify themselves as Trekkies / Trekkers / or simply just Star Trek fans / sci-fi fans.
This may well not be our / your typical Star Trek fare, but it is an honest, realistic (in science fiction terms), and understandable introduction to Emperor Philippa Georgiou of The Terran Empire, for those who are new to the franchise, as well as a welcome reminder of the incomparable Michelle Yeoh's iconic and "loved to be hated" scene stealing character from Star Trek: Discovery (which has itself been subjected to similar unwarranted vitriolic disdain from its debut, until its end).
I have always believed that the Star Trek family embraced and extolled the vision of Gene Roddenberry as described and displayed throughout all of the iterations of Star Trek, but this 'family' seems to have been infiltrated over the last few years by naysayers and hate mongers whose sole aim seems to be to disparage the Star Trek legacy; to dissuade new viewers from watching, and to annihilate one of the longest running franchises of all time.
I acknowledge that this is NOT a typical Star Trek movie, but I for one really enjoyed it. Maybe it is like a two parter or a feature length opener to a season, but that's not a bad thing. I really hope that there will be a sequel. I want to know more about Emperor Philippa Georgiou and Section 31.
Since Section 31 was introduced in Star Trek: Deep Space 9, we have ALL wanted to know so much more about this shady part of The Federation. Admittedly this movie was light on the 'Section 31' element of the United Federation of Planets, but as a character's origin story; it does the job.
I don't have any qualms, concerns, or reservations about the cast and the performances of the actors. I just want a sequel that expands on the story and that will lead us more as Trekkies / Trekkers / or simply just Star Trek fans / sci-fi fans into the murky world of Section 31.
Let's give Section 31: the underbelly of Starfleet a chance.
Live long and prosper.

Too slow. Too boring.
I only managed to watch this for 45 minutes. The performances up until this point were very good. The cast was excellent and very talented, but the pace was just way to slooooooooooooooooow.
Did everyone involved in this movie just lose interest in what they were doing and trying to achieve? The cast was worthy of so much more.
Like a lot of people I had paid attention to the hype surrounding this movie, but in absolutely all honesty, this is bad, and, did I mention, slooooooooooooooooow.
Maybe the original idea and the script were different from the finished product, which is why this cast exists, but the finished product is sub-par.
