Marvel really needs to learn that it's not necessary to make jokes every minute to bring a good story to life. The second half of the movie is outstanding-very well written, with excellent character development and some of the most beautiful fight scenes in the entire MCU. However, the first half loses its way at various points, with poorly timed jokes, an inconsistent rhythm, and confusing ideas. It almost feels like a different film. One of the movie's strengths lies in its fight and action scenes, particularly in the final arc. It's evident that a lot of effort went into making these moments great, and it pays off perfectly. In the end, it's clear that diving deep into characters is far more valuable than relying on constant humor.
Okay, the show definitely has some problems, but it's pretty funny and engaging. Personally, I thought the main issues were the acting, which is especially bad for the main character, and the pacing in the first half. From the middle to the last episode, the pacing becomes more fluid and natural, but there are still some moments where things happen too quickly between periods of total inactivity. The trial, for me, was very interesting and had some nice twists. However, one thing that made me uncomfortable was how the evidence was revealed at very convenient moments, making it impossible to predict from the beginning who the killer was. Anyway, the ending is a bit exaggerated, but overall, it's a great show that provides some good mystery and makes you doubt everyone, even the most unlikely characters. Pretty solid for a nice investigation show, to watch in one or two days.
A very well-made investigation story for those who miss the feeling of mystery mixed with a complex main character. The trama has many good plot twists that will surprise you, and, at the same time, convince you that it is coherent. The direction did an amazing job, making the pace very enjoyable, and every single piece of information is relevant, even though it may not seem like it. While watching it you will be surprised in various moments. Between the investigation, we discover more about the main character, and some drama of her own life, what makes the experience even more enjoable. There's even space for some well calculated jokes, that will probably take a smile out of you. Drama, mystery, and even some fun moments make this an HBO masterpiece, for sure.
