I really loved the the earlier versions of Kitchen Nightmares. The new season just doesn't have the same feel. The censoring takes away a lot, because the "bleeping" is distracting. We all know how Gordon speaks. Let him be heard. Most of the "fire" is gone. The other part that is missing is Gordon teaching the staff how to cook. All we get to see is the "before" menu being made in really bad fashion. We only get to see the "after" menu at the reveal. All-in-all, this is a milquetoast version of Kitchen Nightmares. There just doesn't seem to be as much drama. There isn't as much focus on the food. I'd like to see a return of the "original" Kitchen Nightmares.
It's really sad that this great show reduces itself to lows like this. Kathy Griffiths makes this episode virtually unwatchable. This episode is not satire. It's over the top awful. Ridiculous stereotypes. Really bad acting. Seriously terrible writing. Volume does not equal quality dialog. Overt forcing of an agenda does not equal quality programming. This episode did absolutely nothing to further the cause of the alphabet types. It also does nothing to promote the concept of the SVU being allies of the community. In short, it was really hard to tell who the biggest clowns were in this circus; the victims, the cops, or the criminals.
Two bright, talented and usually entertaining guys, in the most ridiculous and contrived load of rubbish imaginable. What a waste. Don't bother!
