This is a movie that, I think, every woman should see. No matter what race you are, you should see this. I laughed... I cried.... I cheered.... I yelled... the other members in the audience felt the same way, and I was the only Black person in the theater! My fiancè (who is a very white man) was so impressed that he began to book our trip to Africa to learn more about African history! Viola Davis wa exceptional and was made for this role. Those who look too much into it, forget the "why" this movie was made. It was to empower Black women. I believe it has the potential to empower ALL women! It's a must see!
I didn't expect much from this movie, but was happily surprised. Great story, with great actors. A true Happy Christmas movie. I loved the fact that the main character wasn't the "beauty standard", according to society. It was less distracting and really let her light shine. Loretta Devine was just wonderful in this role. But, who are we kidding... she always is. Heartwarming and realistic (well, as far as real people in the real world goes). I laughed, I awed, I danced and my heart was happy. I recommend this to anyone who wants to watch a fresh take on the typical Christmas movies out there!
