Wolfkin1993's rating
The headline puts it lightly, this series takes the "Friendly Monster" notion to a whole new level, "several monster races working together for a better future". That aside our Protagonist Satoru Mikami/Rimuru Tempest is a loveable, yet believable character, who is a logical thinker (though that trait is lost when he's around Elves) & quite merciful to those who choose peace over destruction, but he's no pushover. The other races in the series each have their own unique quirks, capabilities & powers (even standard humans) & can easily back Rimuru should the need arise. (Although one 'particular' support character can be a bit endearing when viewers first see him). The series is nicely paced for its 23 episodes (with three bonus filler episodes for total of 26). (Bonus point from me for being one of the few anime to have Lizardmen as allies instead of enemies). Its well worth the watch & I look forward to more of the series from "8-Bit Studios" should they choose to continue the series.
Typical "socially inept gamer" summoned to another world, moving past that, the world is believable, featuring unique leveled summon monsters such as a Hydra & viewers will be absolutely stunned by the "Main Protagonist's power. Although I feel it somewhat lacking that he never truly learns any new skills in his adventure (save for "Enslavement" & "Dispel"), but this is the first season to test the water, so I can forgive "Ajia-do Animation Works" for being cautious, all in all the series is worth a watch.
(As per the headline), "four heroes of Light are summoned to banish evil that corrupts the world", however this series takes that & then flips it on its head, with one of the four starting off like many of us truly would in another world, with almost nothing & then working our way up to "Renowned Hero". The protagonist Naofumi Iwatani will definitely remind tons of viewers about "Final Fantasy VIII" hero Squall Leonhart, plus I keep thinking of the Fiolial's as Chocobos. That aside the series has decent pacing for its 25 episodes, its not jumping from one plot point to the next (like "In Another World With My Smartphone") & viewers can easily get attached to the series as a whole. I look forward to more seasons, should "Kinema Citrus" decide to create more.
