If Shin Godzilla is the "thinking mans" Godzilla then Minus One is the opiate for the masses. It's a retelling of the original Godzilla story but worse. In an age when we CAN do amazing effects we're stuck with forced, shallow human drama and very little Godzilla time. The movie does basically everything short of "sad piano sad, cry here" moments and drones on and on beating you over the head with it nonstop human drama. At least with King of Monsters I can skip the people bits and see some awesome monster moments.

At least Shin Godzilla tried to do something different. I felt more emotion for the family in the toppled apartment building in the Shin movie than I did for the entire cast of this one.

All these movies suffer the same issue. Cut the BS story and characters. I just want to watch my favorite monsters go at it. All the stuff with them is great, but you could probably cut half this movie and it'd be better.

If you're going to have poorly done characters the least you could do is have them die violently.
