  • Brutal storytelling with convection!

"Animal," Sandeep Reddy Vanga's third cinematic venture, delves into the affection of a young kid for his father, gradually reaching toxic levels. The first half of the movie lacks a linear storyline, while the second half adopts a straightforward approach to storytelling. The issue arises as the story seems simple and entertaining in the first half, but complexity arises in the second half, featuring scenes that feel like a break in continuity.

This isn't an action movie; it's more of a drama where almost 90% of the content is dramatic. Every actor in the movie delivers a phenomenal performance. Some scenes, such as killing someone and engaging in a physical relationship suddenly with blood all over you, or dancing nude in public, are challenging to portray onscreen convincingly. The post-credit scene is also noteworthy, and I won't spoil it.

Sandeep Reddy Vanga's cinematic framing is beautiful, and credit goes to the cinematography team. The background score serves as the heartbeat of the movie, flowing throughout and pleasing the audience. The only drawback in the technical aspect is the editing; some scenes, like the recovery scenes of Ranbir Kapoor's character, feel unnecessary.

Certain characters are introduced but left unexplored, like the bodyguard beaten for being with Ranbir's character when he stood up against those who offended his sister. Despite Ranbir's character promising to remember him, the story forgets him. Shakti Kapoor's character remains unjustified throughout the movie.

A significant complaint is the underutilization of Bobby Deol. He doesn't come across as an antagonist; although he looks villainous, his limited screen presence hampers audience connection. Despite a powerful backstory, his character is not explored enough, making this 3-hour-22-minute movie feel empty regarding his role.

Despite these issues, I recommend this movie because Bollywood hasn't witnessed anything like this before. It takes courage to create such a film, and Sandeep Reddy Vanga executes it convincingly. Kudos to him. With the promise of a sequel, I hope the sequel will also maintain the same brutal honesty in storytelling.

  • This is a beautiful cinematic painting not for everyone but for everyone !!

Movie: Qala Director: Anvita Dutt Starring: Tripti Dimri, Babil Khan and Swastika Mukherjee Genere: Psychological period drama OTT: Netflix

This isn't a movie, this is an art which will be remembered for years and years to come. Every frame is a beautiful painting, I can't remember any Hindi movie which was made so beautifully like a painting.

This is a story of a girl who wants to be a successful singer so that she can make her mother proud but when she kissed success she is haunted by her own dark past. Is the success she always dreamt worth it ? Is she guilty ? Is her mother guilty ? OR is there someone else who is guilty ?

Hands down to the director Anvita Dutt for bringing this beautiful story in motion picture. Even though we are familiar with these kind of stories Anvita Dutt's way of telling the story is a perfection, she nailed it.

The performance of actors in this movie is top notch. The way they express their situation with their facial expressions with out any dialogues is praise worthy. The way they sit, sleep, speak, smoke, dance, act takes us to 1940 of which the story is. There is not a single scene in the movie where the actors came below perfection.

The cinematography of this movie is one of the best aspect of this movie. The way they decided to shoot this movie is something we rarely see in a Bollywood movie. Mirror scenes are captured so beautifully leaving us wonder how the cinematographer managed to capture the scene. Talking about the cinematography there is a scene where a guy is enjoying a sexual benefit form Qala and the scene fades out from a wall slowly showing us the facial expression of the guy and rotates around to stop in front of a statue with its mouth open. That was beautifully captured symboling us what was happening.

The next beautiful thing about the movie was the music. In the time of TikTok, reels and shorts this movie is filled with classical music and background scores which will hit your heart directly. They are gem, every tone - every words in the songs are beautiful.

Other aspects like editing, costume design and set design has its own pleasure. The editor knew how the director wanted to show every frame to tell us the story of Qala. The set design of this movie takes you to 1940 Calcutta. The fashion designer designed costume for every character reflecting their respective dominance in the story.

This movie has its heart and soul in it. This is a perfect way to tell everyone that bad parenting can kill your kid mentally and also physically.

This is an art movie which is of course not for everyone but if you have time, watch this movie because this movie hugely deserves your attention.

    ** HUGELY RECOMMENDED **

  • This movie tries to impress and it success !!

Move: Monica, O My Darling Starring: Rajkumar Rao, Huma Qureshi, Radhika Apte Director: Vasan Bala Genre: Neo-noir, Crime comedy thriller film OTT platfrm: Netflix

This movie tries hard to impress and it succeds. The best thing in this movie is the performance performance by leading actors. Rajkumar Rao shines in is role so des Huma Qureshi as Monica and Radhika Apte as the police officer.

Story is good but we have seen these kind of stories earlier too but while watching this movie I was going with the flow and I totally forgot the ovies with same storylines earlier. Kudos to the screenplay writers for this. The cinematography of this movie is catchy as well as the background score of this movie gives life to the scenes.

Talking about the drawbacks, this movie sometime lacks logic. The comedy could have been better but its okay though.

If you are free and you have access to Netflix then this movie deserves your time, give it a chance.
