I'm rewatching "The Rookie" because my daughter missed it the first two times I watched. This is truly one of our "comfort shows", it's exciting and also funny. This episode is a delight. We love true crime here in America, and this bizarre series of interviews is just like some of the cheesier true crime documentaries.
Bradford and Chen were great and it was nice to get closure on Jackson's breakup with Sterling. Honestly, the only thing that I would quibble with is that stupid milkshake on the head shtick. No matter how sick my kid was, I wouldnt be laughing at that mess.
I am impressed at how this series sets up plot lines that are two, three or four seasons to come. I'm not going to add spoilers. Watch and be surprised.

I read a number of reviews complaining of the slow pace. I don't think it's slow. I do think it's balanced. I don't want emergency after emergency with no break. I do want to see the team relaxing and I'm enjoying the various story lines.
And the scenery. Oh my goodness! It's amazing! I thoroughly enjoy the shots of the ocean. The underwater camera work is awe-inspiring.
It's interesting to me to see the behind the scene machinations with the politics of everything. I'm kind of pleased to see that isn't just a mainland issue.
This is a truly pleasant show. Even the few people that the team can't rescue are handled with a full story. I was crying along with the actors at the ceremony on their boards where they threw the purple flowers. (I'm trying to to be a spoiler here).
It isn't pulse pounding, excitement every minute, but it's a string workplace show with amazing scenery and some truly heroic action.

I didn't expect much, and I wasn't disappointed. The plot was simple enough, and the set up, a double booked wedding venue, was done well. From the moment we first saw Will Farrell with his daughter, though, the cringe was strong. I have no issue with an involved father. I have two men in my family who worked hard and learned to braid hair and do a serviceable ballet bun. I didn't think it was necessary to make Farrell's character so cutesy that I spent the bulk of the movie questioning his sexuality.
The supporting cast had a lot of nice moments, but they didn't connect with each other enough to make a strong support for the plot. Few plot points were surprising. (The one that was out of the box was given away in the trailers.) When it was over everything wrapped up in a tidy little bow, with satisfactory endings for each character. It was a nice way to spend a rainy afternoon, but I don't feel that I will revisit any time soon.
