1981 was a prime year for slasher and horror movies . Thanks to the success of Halloween 1978 and Friday the 13tb 1980 . The town Dr played by John. Cassavettes who played guy in rosemary's baby investigates murders in Gaylon village with the help of a policeman John Ireland . They suspect a young man who has nightmares that come true . But there's a more sinister force at large , a demon aka incubus . There's a shocking ending . The incubus was filmed in Canada , where a lot of great horror movies came from happy birthday to me , my bloody Valentine .
I first saw this back in New Jersey on channel 9 . So bad it's good kind of movie a lot of talking and confusing about the discovery about a mummy during a Native American burial dig .actually this was a movie made in 1958 and padded in 1975 with added scenes and color . The mummy turns out to be Bigfoot in a shoddy made costume. It attacks the researchers while music from the blob 1958 is played in the soundtrack . I can see why it was on tv . But it would've worked as a second or third feature at a drive in . That's when the cars begin departing . Ha ha . Some of this is boring but picks up towards the end . My question is Bigfoot or mummy ? Both ?curse of Bigfoot is the extended version of teenagers battle the thing 1958. They did the same thing with they saved hitlers brain which was also sold to tv . Which was madman of mandaras in 1964.
Nightkill 1980 has the look of a slasher movie from the looks of the poster but it's not . It's a mystery thriller starring Jaclyn Smith ( Charlie's Angels ) who is involved in a unhappy marriage to a cruel rich man played by Mike Conners ( Mannix ) her lover played by James Franciscus poisons him and later is found dead . While a private investigator played by Robert Mitchum pokes around trying to find clues . However there is a twist ending . Good cast in a movie that had very limited release back in 1980 as the slasher cycle was starting after Halloween 1978 and Friday the 13th 1980 . But. Nightkill was not one of those slasher movies and had a limited release back in 1980 . Was sold to television and has an R Rating . Sybil Danning a Fritz Weaver have supporting roles . This was to be Jaclyn Smiths breakout role during her stint on Charlie's Angels . It's worth a look . Not great but not bad either.
