Ben Cross should have put his running shoes back on the minute they tried to sign him up for this. There are other actors in the cast who should have paid closer attention to the quality of the writing before they signed on the dotted line.
The dialogue appears to have been written by a twelve year old, who I reckon got his older teenage sister into the cast because his parents asked him to.
She was , inexplicably, given the role of "Millie".. She squeaked, whined and gasped her way through every scene she was in to the point where I couldn't wait for her to freeze to death. I couldn't stick it to the end! That's 90 mins of my life I'll never get back.
I suspect it was directed by a primary school teacher, whose sole experience of directing was to organise the Nativity Play during her Probationary year.
Every actor is either woefully inept or tries to, at least, amuse themselves by hamming it up outrageously.
The special effects aren't very special at all.
The storyline....very reminiscent of The Day After Tomorrow... should have been a winner..... we all love a disaster movie. Well.... this was a disaster , but not in the way the producers intended. But whoever wrote the music for the soundtrack shouldn't have watched The Day After Tomorrow then they wouldn't have been tempted at one point to nearly plagiarise the theme tune.

I was seven years old when I watched this .... I am 71 now ... and I can visualise scenes as if I watched it yesterday. ......I can remember Hilary as the housekeeper.... her face and characterisation is imprinted on my mind. I can picture Martha teaching Mary to use the shipping rope..... who knew that was Prunella Scales ??
No version o& The Secret Garden that I have ever seen holds a candle to this production.
It was in black and white , of course, but that only added to the atmosphere. Somehow it seemed so REAL.
To this day I cannot resist looking through curtains of Ivy hoping to find a door and robins are my favourite bird.
