Just watched it for the second time. I have to increase it to nine stars this time.
Shiboprosad ATE. He effing ATE. There ain't many actors in India right now who could have nailed Bikram Pramanik's role like Shiboprosad did. The facial expressions, the voice modulation, the eyes... he excelled in everything!
One curious thing about current Bangla film industry is that amongst the three male actors, whom I consider to be the best of the best and not worse than any internationally acclaimed artist, two of them are actually directors, and do acting in films only as a hobby (Koushik Ganguly and Shiboprosad). The third, and, only exception here is Anirban Bhattacharya, although he has also helmed two phenomenal projects as a director.
Anyways, back to Bohurupi, anyone from WB reading this, go watch Bohurupi if you haven't already. It's not a flawless film. But you'll have a good time that I can guarantee.
PS: Apart from Shiboprosad, the music department also ate btw.
Dakatiya Banshi is an actual proper and FUN item number in a Bangla film in last many years. Shibu-Nandita films usually have a item-number-ish song in it, but none of them are as fun as Dakatiya Banshi. They've touched a new height with this.
The last song in the film - Behula Sundori, which, as on 14th of October, hasn't released yet, is also a banger. Juxtaposition of this song and the climax legit gave me tears. The editing and building up was superb!!
