As Randall-Alyssa wrote in their review on June 11 2020 "I wanted to hate it, but loved it."
I began watching it out of desperation while looking for something to cheer myself up.
During the first episode I found it silly, ridiculous and well, bordering on stupid. Then I checked myself.
"Self" I said,"this is satire! It is supposed to be historically inaccurate! Yes it's a bit lewd and bawdy, but buck up you old prude, you've seen more skin during 'Love Actually' which is a favourite film. So what's your problem here?"
I stopped being a ridiculous old man who was nit picking it to death and you know what? I loved it for what it was, an absolutely delightful satire!
The costumes are sumptuous and the acting is impeccable.
Leave your historical memories and high morals at the door and dive into this delightful series.
Series 2 cannot come soon enough.
Huzzah!
This film does not do justice to the atrocity of Trokosi victims. This crudely made film has an awkward pace thanks to the horrible direction. The film doesn't come close to representing the real life drama and horror of Trokosi.
