This movie starts out slow, but it builds tension very quickly. This would be a very terrifying situation. This movie has a sense of realism. The dialogue is not fancy, nor presumptuous, but adequate for these type of dramas. It flows well with the fast paced events. And the scenes are not overwhelmed with bombastic actions to make the story messy and senseless. There's enough material in this film to capture the interest of viewers even if the ending twist lightens my intrigue.
Unfortunately, not much left in the movie once you've watched the trailer. A slow mover which lures the viewer in on the pretence of a big reveal. But there isn't one. The unveiling is exactly as you might predict if you've seen any of the great thrillers or dramas. On the whole, the acting was OK (which is why I've rated it a generous 4), but the story could have been much better. The writer/director has potential; this is certainly not his masterpiece.
When I went to see the first LOTR, I didn't expect to like it. By now the trilogy is my favorite of all time (along with "Star Wars"). I remember going to see the third movie for my friend's birthday. It was packed with people and ready to make history for me.
The movie is pretty much flawless. The actors were good, the story and dialogue was interesting and witty, and the visual effects were without a doubt phenomenal. Peter Jackson has provided me the ultimate mix of great story elements and some of the best fight scenes ever filmed.
If I have any complaints, it would be that the actors could have done a bit better, especially Ian Mckellen, who earned an Academy nomination for his role.
