The movie is a nice thriller and definitely worth a watch, especially considering it's the director's debut - a commendable effort on his part. However, the theatre experience felt like a scam. Despite the ticketing app showing a houseful status, only about three rows were partially occupied, and the rest of the theatre was completely empty. Don't fall for the FOMO. It's a decent film that can comfortably be watched on OTT.
I went on the first day with very high expectations. Comparing this to the original is an insult to the prequel. The story is predictable and offers nothing new. A false hype was created before release-just because it became a 'blockbuster,' people felt FOMO and got carried away.
All the reviews are misleading, with only a few genuinely honest ones out there. To me, this film felt like a complete waste of some incredible talent. The story drags in parts, so it's hard to blame the actors entirely. If the script doesn't support them, what can they really do?
That said, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, and Fatima Sana Shaikh gave outstanding performances and truly gave it their all. A couple of scenes between Konkona and Pankaj were genuinely funny, but aside from that, I found little of value in the movie.
Aditya Roy Kapoor and Sara Ali Khan were completely over the top, with excessive overacting. Even Anupam Kher and Neena Gupta were underwhelming, which was disappointing. The previous film felt modern, refreshing, and emotionally grounded. In contrast, this one relies on the same outdated Bollywood formula where everything conveniently falls into place by the end.
The excessive use of music was also jarring-it felt forced and out of sync with the narrative, unlike the prequel, where the soundtrack seamlessly supported the emotion of each scene.
