Despite its brevity, Hold My Horse presents the camp life and human element of the Civil War in a fascinating and whimsical light. An arrogant young officer, who holds himself above those deemed lower in status than he, but eager to kiss up to higher-ranking officers for some perceived benefit, finds himself humbled in a fun way. Superbly researched and drawing on real accounts and real persons from the Civil War, Hold My Horse is well worth the small amount to purchase or rent it, plus, the monies raised go to a great cause in historic preservation.
