  • A very powerful movie

As I typically enjoy musicals, this one was no exception. Regardless of who you may be this movie hits hard especially at the very end. While I am not prone to getting teary eyed during movies, this was one of the few exceptions that was able to make me feel emotional as the credits rolled. I recommend this to anyone that wishes to watch, and to view it from a point of view where you can understand all of the messages that it presents.

  • Not much of a plot

"Sonic the Hedgehog" was one of the few games I remember from early childhood. The fast paced action in areas that I now know all too well was very exciting for a younger kid like myself and the idea that one of my favorite video game icons was coming to the big screen really excited me. However, I felt that the movie was somewhat of a disappointment. The movies main flaw, as I saw it, was a lack of character. Despite being titled "Sonic the Hedgehog" it felt as though any other CGI character could have replaced Sonic and it still would have made sense as a stand alone movie. Along with the lack of character, the plot progression was also off for me. Granted the movie was only an hour and 40 minutes, the way that the story progression came out made it feel much less shorter than it actually was. Aside from those flaws I noticed, I enjoyed the movie. While the characters felt bland, I felt kind f connected to them simply because their interaction was enjoyable to watch. And as most of the other reviews likely say, I have to give credit to Jim Carrey for his outstanding role as Dr. Robotnik, as it was one of the several enjoyable parts of the film. Don't even get me started on all of the references, there were several in the movie and I enjoyed all of them, specifically the scene where Sonic drops his rings after getting hit. In short, the movie , in general, was pretty OK at best, but good character interaction and good acting caused it to overcome the several flaws that were present.

  • Great movie on the second watch

Dragon Quest: Your Story is a great movie. Having played and loved Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, I went in with high expectations and was not disappointed. Despite not playing Dragon Quest V, I felt really connected to the story and characters in this film. The only nagging aspect of this movie are the weird plot jumps. Throughout the movie, there are several jumps that feel to me as though they are skipping huge plot scenes that should have been incorporated into the film. The ending however, despite popular opinion, really hit home for me. I loved the message that the ending scene portrayed and this scene alone made my opinion jump from a 5 to an 8. Had it been roughly 2 and a half hours, with more character development and more action sequences, this would have likely been a 10 for me. In short, Dragon Quest: Your Story, is exactly as the title says, "Your Story" and I would recommend this to anyone, especially anyone who likes or has played any of the Dragon Quest games.
