Dang wo fei ben xiang ni (2023)
Absolutely beautiful to watch
Absolutely loved every single second of every single episode of this series! The script and how this show was filmed was so incredible. Loved the absolute consistency of characters and their development. It's certainly one of my most favourite CDramas to date! Absolutely lovely to watch (and rewatch). I particularly loved the main leads. Their chemistry is lovely on screen and it fabulous to see a strong female character who has gumption!!! What a delight!!! The device of the video notes is beautiful and I especially loved that every episode had a theme. This truly was a heartwarming story and series to watch. Loved it!
She Came to Me (2023)
Soooo worth watching
I can't believe the score of this film here!!! Under 7! It's definitely not under 7!!!! It is so worth watching just for the opera scenes!!!! I found the entire film moving and beautiful and all the performances so nuanced and interesting. I hadn't really even heard of it ... it was something I watched on a flight home, and was really happy I did!!! Definitely worth watching!! I do feel like Anne Hathaway's character could have been better developed but all in all, it's a solid 8 at least!!! Loved the last few scenes! Very visually appealing and awesome score!! Do yourself a favour and don't miss this movie it's a sweet film!
Love Again (2023)
It's worth watching if you need a lift
As a Mills n Boon fan this movie slotted right in there for me and ticked all the boxes ... if you're looking for hyper realistic it's not for you! I loved the premise and everything that evolved so it was a heartwarming watch for me. It's sad the rating is low ... haters gonna hate ... I enjoyed watching Love Again and it's really realistic on the front of grief .... Also, who doesn't enjoy watching Sam sans shirt? Do yourselves favour and watch the end credits, very cute! I loved seeing Celine Dion looking healthier than I'd seen her look for ages!! Cute film! Like I said before, I found it entertaining and worth watching.
Your Place or Mine (2023)
I enjoyed it so there
I was in the mood to watch something light hearted so I gave this film a shot. I was a bit sceptical at first because I wondered about how the two leads would pan out. Listen, it's a rom-com and it ticked all the boxes. Nice cast, funny and a sweet film. It's top ten on Netflix in SA and I think it deserves to be there. Nice. Sure, it's not epic but it deserves much more than barely a 6 out 10 rating it's getting here. So if your in the mood for a bit of a laugh, some good schmaltz and a cute flick, go ahead. Left me feeling better than when I started watching so that is nice, right? It's nice.
Wedding Season (2022)
Totally enjoyed this quirky film
Flicking through the titles to my eye was drawn to the description of this film - charming, quirky and romance. And we chose to watch this film based on that and it delivered on those descriptions!!
I'd add ... funny, meaningful and totally worth the watch! I watched it on Teleparty with my friend from Greece and we loved it! It's a good laugh, the script is fabulous and the cast is perfect! A real feel good film with a lovely soundtrack. Totally recommend this film! It was just the pick-me-up we needed! Heartwarming and very touching, we give this lovely little film a 9. It's inspired us to find similar films to watch!
Persuasion (2022)
Tone! The tone is all wrong
Ok so I often don't agree with the ratings on this site but this one scores spot on. And it's such a pity because this adaptation has everything going for it except the one thing that Jane Austen's shivering in her grave about ... the tone of the piece. It's so off!!! Seriously the whole self-deprecating to camera stuff is so off putting and alienating. It's like this team wants to appeal to a Instagram market and be all hip an happening.... Wrong!!!! You don't take a brilliant piece of work like Persuasion and ruin it all by missing everything about the actual story. Seriously, team. Very very disappointing.
Shinibsagwan Goohaeryung (2019)
A must watch
I loved every single minute of this series. It's absolutely epic! Well written, interesting and every episode was fantastic to the last. The ost is also so beautiful and it's so well structured! I always kind of wonder about 20 episodes but wow this one was well worth it. And Cha Eun-woo really really good in this!!! And so is Shin Se-kyung. But the most important aspect of this series is the most interesting and engaging ... the role of historians recording events in relation to how rulers want to subvert the events to suit their means. Excellent show! Really well worth watching this historical drama that offers a great perspective of life in the Josean era! And I love the strong female perspective. Really well worth watching and I give it a 10/10.
Woori the Virgin (2022)
Compelled to review this series
I know this show is going to get slaughtered for obvious reasons but I'm so enthusiastic about it!!! It's about what she wants and the production team too! Bravo Writer Jang!!! And especially to a very good cast!!!! I really loved ep 14!!! It's beautiful and refreshing and the epicenter is the child!!! Fabulous beautiful story!!! Kamsamnida and a 9/10 for you!!!
Jigeumbuteo Syotaim! (2022)
It's surprisingly good
I really enjoyed this series from start to the end frame. It has all the right elements including a great plot and script and such a wonderful cast! Especially the main leads!! Even liked the second lead tbh!! It's funny and scary and it has scenes in it reminiscent of one of my favourite shows, Goblin!! It's definitely worth watching! And the main track, It's a freak show is epic!!
Cheongchunsidae (2016)
Series One is the bomb
Ok so I'm only speaking about Series One! I've canned series 2. I don't like it when characters change cast and the storyline you've invested in suddenly becomes void ...
Series one is a beautiful exploration of friendship and is well written and beautifully portrayed by an excellent cast!! I loved seeing Park Eun-bin and Park Hye-soo as they were early in their careers. Beautiful!!! It delivered a line I'll never ever forget. Yoon Jin-Myung tells her mother that hope brings calamity. A concept that was extremely thought provoking in their circumstances. A really worthwhile series! What a pity Series 2 is not even a shadow of a match. Well I couldn't watch past ep 2 of series 2.
Hi Bye, Mama! (2020)
A beautifully written series
An interesting premise, and one that is beautifully explored in this series. I loved the themes, the cast and how the story unfolded. It's a wonderfully cathartic show to watch and very poignant. It's beautiful and the acting is good especially Seo-woo by Jin See-woo. Wow she's too cute!! Beautiful! I loved this series!!!
Gisangcheong Saramdeul: Sanaeyeonae Janhoksa Pyeon (2022)
Great idea but sadly falls short
Oh gosh I started watching this show and it was quite nice the first few episodes. But it ranks low on my list of shows to watch if you haven't . I found the script to be extremely trite. I found the casting quote annoying. The weather forecast as a device is an interesting and great idea. It's just unsatisfactory and feels inauthentic here!!
Seumuldaseot Seumulhana (2022)
An interesting series
The journey from adolescence to be adulthood. And what a journey !!! I scored it a 10 initially but I can in all fairness give it a 10 after watch the end of the series. Writer Kim Do-eun what happened? I don't want to spoil it for those who haven't watched it, but I'm so disappointed in this perfect show. Na Hee Do is incredible but definitely not as an adult. Kim Tae Ri was a breath of fresh air. The casting for adult Na Hee Do is all wrong and who she is in the present is unrecognizable. So upsetting.
Dog (2022)
A comedy? Not!
War isn't funny. Being a war vet even less. This is a beautiful film with Tatum Channing is literally in every frame of this film and he holds it well. Poignant and heartbreaking. I can't understand it's rating. It's at least a 7!
Last Christmas (2019)
George Michael tracks alone make it worth it
I just loved it, this film that drew its inspiration from George Michael's song, Last Christmas. And how all his songs are weaved throughout. I found this film quirky and meaningful and it's deserving (in my opinion) a score much higher than the current 6.5! Loved it!!!
Oh! Juinnim (2021)
Worthy of a better rating
I am compelled to write a review after watching this series mainly because it has a low rating on this platform and it deserves over 7 for sure!! It's a beautifully written series, sometimes a bit clumsy in parts but the performances of Lee Min-ki and Nama are so lovely it's worth watching just for them! Anyone who rated this show 1 really has done it a disservice. I found it very watchable and meaningful!
Dan, Hanaui Sarang (2019)
Definitely worth watching
I'd watch this series just for Kim Myung-moo and Shin Hae Sun. Wow I loved them together. It's some screen magic. It's an engaging enough story, nothing earth shattering but the two leads hold it together enough to keep the attention to conclusion! I enjoyed the lovely chemistry between then.
Thirty-Nine (2022)
I had to write a review!
I came on here and saw someone rated 39 as a 1 and labeled it a "snore fest " which literally made me fume so I'm reviewing despite the drama not being completed. I'd like to say that I am finding it real, funny and beautiful to watch! The friendship angle is fabulous! Please ignore the incredibly unfair 1 rating!!! Son Ye Jin is wonderful in this series!
Gobaekbubu (2017)
An excellent series to watch
It's amazing how you stumble across these gems and you decide to watch them because you really like one of the actors (Jang Ki-Yong). It's surprisingly good and really well acted. All the characters are great! And the notion it poses is very meaningful and thought provoking. What would you change if you got a do over? Well worth the watch, I enjoyed it very much!
Canola (2016)
I loved it
What a little gem of a movie this is! I loved every frame, it's so meaningful and the performances are full of light! Really lovely!! Kim Go Eun is wonderful
In this movie, really!!
The Box (2021)
We all have our boxes!
Underrated for sure! This film is a 9/10. Worth watching just for the message st splendid rendition of What a wonderful world. Love the music, love Chanyeol and I loved watching this film! Very moving and uplifting!!
The Name (2020)
A movie worth watching
I stumbled across this film and was glad that I decided to watch it. I really like Jeon So-Min from 1% of Something and she was excellent in this too! It's a lovely romantic poignant film!
Two Lights: Relumino (2017)
Worth watching for sure
I loved both these actors and the support cast is lovely and funny too! Poignant and touching, it's worth watching just for the soundtrack. Best 30 minutes of my day, really! Lovely film ... and watch past the end credits as there are some lovely little scenes.
Gibangdoryeong (2019)
Worth watching
I watched this movie after watching #theredsleeve which in Lee Jun-Ho tour de force and whilst it's clearly not in the high budget stakes, it offers a really interesting storyline. All I can say is that it's like he's wearing the shoe on the other foot and the issue of his birth is still central to his happiness. It was well worth the watch and deserves much more than a 6/10 overall rating for sure!!!
Gireumjin Mello (2018)
Worth watching just for the cooking!
I really enjoyed this show. It's sometimes a bit convoluted and I think the plot could have done with some more work but wow, Lee Jun Ho is fabulous in this!! He really immerses himself in his roles!! Loved his work as a Chef!! It is wonderful to see all the wok ways!! Inspiring actually! It's enjoyable to watch and worth it!!
