I didn't care for the lead female actress. In my opinion she wasn't believable in her physical appearance for the role. Also her character was far too sullen, unhappy & downtrodden throughout the entire story. I had a hard time buying her character & her lack of emotions for one who's in love or riding the wave of lust and love but nevertheless I watched all episodes because I found the story intriguing. The lead male actor did a good job & most of the supporting actors were good too. I agree with another reviewer that this story would've been better suited for a 2 hr movie rather than a series.
I'm a big fan of romantic dramas & I do believe there is room for many adaptations of the same story. This is a terrible adaptation of Romeo & Juliet. Where do I begin? There is zero chemistry between the actors, terrible acting from most of the cast, repetitive awkward moments with the script & between the actors, visually unappealing cinematography & costumes. I forced myself to watch to the end to give it a fair chance but unfortunately the movie never improved. There is nothing positive I can say about this movie. One of the worst movies I've seen. I don't recommend this movie, try one of the other adaptations.
I don't understand the bad reviews. I love romantic dramas & I've watched many. I absolutely loved this movie, much more than the 1968 version which I find too be cheesy acting for most of the supporting cast of that movie & boring cinematography. The story in this version moves along at a good pace & kept me interested. I thought the characters/actors in this version were more enjoyable to watch. The acting was great, costumes beautiful & many of the location settings had depth & were beautiful too. I think too many are being snobby about this version. I've watched it several times & have enjoyed it every single time. It's a beautiful love story adaptation; give this movie a fair chance. My only complaint is that (apparently) the director/production(?) caved into public pressure to not show nudity so the love scene could've been a bit edgier but regardless it's very well done.
