That they too shared my long half-century fascination with this old historical TV series that I never forgot!!! I even bought & assembled a plastic model replica of the famed sailing vessel "The Golden Hind" back in the early 1960s!!
Always interested in American / Maryland & Baltimore to world history since childhood inherited from my also history - loving mother who also read many British royalty historical fiction novels / biographies. I too also expanded to / European and British history & culture plus geography / politics interests into my teen-age adolescent years plus collecting thousands of books in a personal library. Lived in & wrote / edited published 200 pages illustrated history of Brooklyn - Curtis Bay communities in south Baltimore in 1976 as an American Bicentennial project.
I later became (am now retired) a "magnet" public high school teacher in history / social studies & humanities plus historian / archivist (at The Baltimore City College - third oldest public high school in America - founded 1839 - at it's landmark "Castle on the Hill" with famous academic reputation & prominent alumni / faculty in the state & region - look up its internet websites in a "Google" search and numerous entry articles on "Wikipedia" - international online / internet encyclopedia!!
Later in 1987, I was on a nine month leisurely driving excursion / tour going cross-country of North America and visited explorer Sir Francis's supposed landings on our West Coast on the Pacific Ocean!!!
Also check out entries on Francis Drake in "Wikipedia" plus various historical geographic sites associated with his storied legendary life and career five hundred years ago!!!
