The vampire tale ever told. The classic by this film is an arthouse masterpiece in how it is shot, acted, written and made overall.
The acting was better than great. This is the first film I have seen with Lily-Rose, Johnny Depp's daughter, starring as Ellen and it was phenomenal. There were times when she was lamentably subtle while other times, she can be unpredictably scary with how she physically acts. Nicholas Hoult was intense as Thomas; he plays scared and mild-mannered so perfectly that you too are fearful of what is to come. Willem Dafoe is always a delight to see on-screen, especially since he has become a regular actor of Eggers.
Bill Skarsgard was fantastic as Count Orlok and thought he was scarier than his portrayal of Pennywise from 'It'. The make-up work on him was meticulously solid, yet at the same time, stays loyal to the original 1922 look. This brings me to my favourite scene when we are introduced to Orlok in the dining hall, where he is mostly covered in shadows. Even though we do not see much of Orlok throughout the film, it leaves much to the imagination. Every time he spoke to Thomas, it always made you feel uneasy. The most effective jump scare comes from Skarsgard's Orlok and they will still get you, even on the second or third watch. The horror also lies in the build-up, the actors' performances and how it was shot.
I have been enjoying Robert Egger's films more and more with each one he has directed. Watching Nosferatu, you can clearly tell he has done his research on the source material. The cinematography is very gorgeous and thorough, even during the close-up shots. Despite the monochrome palette, the production value is high-quality in the designs of its town settings and Victorian apparel that actors wore. The aesthetic was pretty gothic, yet very natural as well from the look of everything. How it was set up and framed is memorable..

I don't know what has happened to people, have they got money for bad reviews, I don't know but this film is for me, I enjoyed it a lot....
I haven't seen the original movie so it was a fresh experience for me, but I can't praise it enough, I love dark movies...bill is fabulous as the crow.
It is very easy to review a book and very difficult to see someone's strength, the screenplay, cinematography and vfx all are top notch... .

. Those who like masala films will not like this movie and those who are die hard fans of the first one will never be happy because they want to stay in that zone only.
