I am purposely going to leave out spoilers, because I want to convince you to try it if you're on the fence...
Ok, so maybe it's not of the same caliber as the previous "Fear Street" movies, but I still enjoyed it. Is it worth a full 8 out of 10 stars? Probably not, but I think this is getting pretty harsh scores that are not, in my opinion, deserved. For that reason, I want to bump it up a bit.
Here's the thing. It's campy, it's kind of corny, it's somewhat predictable. But it was FUN. Honestly, the last two movies I watched before this were Wolfman and Heart Eyes, and I can honestly say I was SO DISAPPOINTED in both of them. I won't go into why, because this review isn't about them; but I will say that this was the only one that I wasn't constantly looking at the clock during, wondering if it was ever going to end. Actually, I never looked at the clock at all. Personally , I thought most of the acting was pretty respectable, especially from the main characters. Sure, there wasn't a lot of character development, but c'mon, it's an 80's slasher flick! What 80's slasher flick DID give extensive character backstories? Bah, I just don't see the validity in that complaint for what kind of movie this is.
Basically, what I'm saying is this... No, you can't take this movie too seriously. No, it's not going to win any Oscars. No, there is no thought-provoking subliminal message. No, it's not a movie that's going to change your life. It's just a fun Netflix movie that doesn't take itself too seriously, and kind of uses its ridiculousness to its advantage. In other words, it's kind of the charm of the movie.
Obviously, there are some people who disagree. And I can respect that. However, I'm not really sure what they were expecting in the first place. I went into it expecting a silly, campy 80's horror flick, and that's exactly what I got. No more, no less. Like my review title says, being kind of bad actually made the movie good. I say give it a shot. Especially if this kind of movie is your cup of tea.

I was so excited about this movie. But...I seriously don't know how this is rated as high as it is.
First off, I guessed the killer as soon as (it) was shown on screen (purposely vague). ZERO, and I mean ZERO chemistry between ANY of the actors. SUPER campy. Which is fine, I don't really mind campy horror movies, but it wasn't even done in a fun way.
Honestly, I don't even know what to think or say. Was it a comedy? Was it a horror? Was it a Rom-Com? Were we supposed to guess the end in the first 10 minutes? Were we supposed to care if anyone died? At the end of the day, it's on Netflix and, more importantly, free. All I can say is thank goodness I did not pay for this. But if you're just curious, go ahead and watch it. Apparently some people loved it, so maybe I was missing something.
Side Note: I was expecting something like Happy Valentine's Day. If you want a Valentine's Day horror movie, watch that. (This was NOTHING like it).
