How many of these rag tag kids go from outcasts to heroes sports movies do we need? Watch Bad News Bears, Hoosiers, Mighty Ducks then repeat if you want to watch the same movie again. For that matter, if you substitute an individual for the kids, you can just watch Rocky (the first 3 anyway) or Million Dollar Baby and get all the underdog overcomes adversity to win sports contest thrills you will ever need.

Rez Ball is just the same plot with poor direction, no development of a connection between the viewer and the character, obtrusive musical montages instead of actual acting and checking off some Dine stereotypes. Oh, and if they said the phrase "Rez Ball" one more time, I planned on sticking an icepick into my eardrums.

I'm all for using Native American actors in films wherever you want to cast them. Just make sure you create a good movie first.

Think4Yourself thinks... (1 star). I couldn't make it 20 minutes through this dreck. We're supposed to believe that the sound of a pencil on paper sends the main character running from a room, yet she can ride around in an automobile through traffic noise without a problem. We are treated to 5 examples of her irritation where she puts a microphone directly on the offending sound so we can "feel" her pain. It worked. I felt it and got the bejeezus out of there.

The lead wants to distance herself from her parents, but through some plot twist we are never shown, ends up living with them. It is silly and contrived nonsense not worthy of this century. We are surrounded with good writing and inventive storytellers in so many movies and TV shows today; maybe the producer should have hired a competent writer to build the script, a talented director to organize the movie, and some actual actors to play the roles. This just feels like a vanity project that your parents paid to produce so they could claim you were a productive citizen.

I tried to watch this on two separate occasions due to the acting of Mike Colter and Michael Emerson. After three years I made it through the first season, but it was a struggle the whole way. They billed this as a balanced show with one character as a skeptic, one an atheist and one a man of religion. They spent almost no time on the atheist perspective, using it to just give the xtians a sounding board. The other two started having the hots for each other as they became more and more obsessed by visions and mythology.

The only drama in the show came as a result of characters doing the most unintelligent thing they could do, then dealing with the consequences. That, and the four or five daughters (it seemed like more) that were instructed to all talk over each other in a babble of shrill nonsense that made me hope for evil to win and take them all.

The whole show made me physically ill to watch.
