I would not call this a horror film. It's a suspense film with very unique characters. This is was Indie filmmaking is about.
The script is fascinating. Just the story about a guy creating one of the first synth patches deserves its own film. Then another character who is detective for the post office tracking down dead letters is interesting.
How these two worlds collide is the focus of this film.
The pacing could be better, but A+ for originality.

The series opens with natives from one of the 5 tribes on a boat. They all look like they just left the beauty parlor. The men are clean shaven. They have perfect hair. Their clothing looks like they are right off the rack.
The women on the boat look like cover girls for Hawaiian Vogue.
They spot a large shark swimming on the surface near their boat. I wonder why the men just don't spear the shark, kill it, and take it home for a BBQ. I assume they don't want to kill it. Maybe it's sacred. Maybe they are vegetarians.
No. They do want to kill it after all, but the male model on the boat wants to go deep underwater and play rodeo with the shark. Unusual. He lures the shark closer and then lassoes the shark with a rope. Now, I am convinced he's going to ride the thing like a horse.
He doesn't ride it. He ties it to the boat and they all cheer and laugh as the shark dies slowly from asphyxiation.
I stopped watching here. I have zero interest in watching further. Instead, I do go to Amazon and look for books on Hawaiian History.

I came across this show by accident because I like cop shows. It's very funny and has a great cast. The episodes are well written and the jokes are sly and clever. Every episode involves a case that a family of cops has to solve. The family is dysfunctional and all the characters are perfectly developed and interesting. There is directing style to this that I love. It reminds me of the Thin Man films. A charming blend of comedy and intrigue.
