This random movie uses the IP of a beloved horror video game to take advantage of its cult status and make some cash out of it. Classic bait and switch.
Obviously, I get why they're going with a new story and characters. I wouldn't want to just see the game plot rehashed, considering the game is already essentially a CYOA movie. I kinda see what they're going for with the death looping thing, like trying to incorporate the concept of branching paths and different endings. But that doesn't mean you have to throw the whole source material in the garbage. The charm of Until Dawn lies in its specific atmosphere and tone; the snowy & cold atmosphere, the Native American Folklore woven into the wendigo legend, and the teen melodrama between the characters. Without its core elements, what's the point of calling it Until Dawn?
I hate this trend of directors and writers thinking they're better than the original source material. It almost never works out... This is completely unrecognizable to the Until Dawn brand.

Just finished the whole thing. I am not the same person.
This game is phenomenal, brilliant, incredible, show-stopping and drop dead gorgeous. The details put into the world of Yharnam, the architecture, the atmosphere, etc. Is just so beautiful. It definitely lives up to the hype and more
It has everything I want within a video game. The combat system is the best I've ever played in any game. The dark, gothic atmosphere is so up my alley and something I dreamed of. The enemies and bosses, especially in the Old Hunters DLC, are hands down the best I've experienced. The game is very rewarding and addictive
And don't even get me started with the story and lore... oh this is genius writing. So many great things about this game I won't even stop listing them.
Life changing masterpiece.

I'm a huge fan of choice-based story games especially when it comes to horror, I'll say this game did not disappoint. The story is one of the best I've ever seen in gaming, the writing is incredible and very detailed, and the character development is probably the best thing about this game. The attention to details, soundtrack, music, visuals, lightings, shadows, cinematography and graphics are pure art, honestly they made a huge effort and it paid off. The human interactions and facial expressions are so lifelike and photorealistic, everything is visually stunning and beautiful to look at. The realism and natural dialogues are insane, the actors gave us a flawless performances to add to the narrative. It was such a unique journey and an amazing story to experience.
Yes there are some flaws and technical issues but I'm sure they can be fixed and they don't really affect the game that much. Overall, This is easily the best horror game this year and probably one of the best of all time. Highly recommended 10/10.
(People need to stop comparing this to Until Dawn pls. I know Until Dawn is so much better but we still gotta appreciate they made something close to it)
