I loved the gentleness of the plots. At first it reminded me of plots you might assign teenage sleuths and having Geoff along made sense. But really the plots were wonderful at showing the grey areas of life and crime for that matter. I think in particular of the first episode. You really don't see that in crime or detective stories which can be heavy handed with bad guy good guy nonsense, or torture porn where every victim is a pretty young woman raped and murdered.
This was refreshing. And like Vera an excellent show with an older woman as star and lead actor.
Who at the BBC didn't renew this show. It should forever be a career defining blemish on them.
