Someday, and I truly hope it's soon, when a company decides to dub a foreign film they'll take the time and spend the money to find voice actors who actually know how to act with their voices instead of just have them recite lines from the script that they're most likely reading for the very first time. Maybe there's something to this movie - the premise looked good, which is why I started watching - but 30 minutes in I simply gave up on the slow, slow, slow pace, the slow moody exposition with the slow moody (and bad) music. Then add the completely emotionless line readings and I quickly got to a state of "I don't give a crap". Big sigh...
Tonight I watched Teeth only because an Off Broadway musical has been running for a few months that garnered some very nice reviews. I found the movie not that great. But... The original Little Shop of Horrors movie was also pretty odd, yet a couple of fantastic writers turned that into a top notch musical that's been running Off- and On-Broadway for decades. I guess top notch writers Michael R. Jackson and Anna K. Jacobs can pull the same trick with this source material. But I found this movie odd at best. Definietly not something I'd watch again, but it was worth it just to get to know the story.
How in the world did the likes of Elizabeth Banks get roped into this piece of unadulterated crap? Her name was the reason I decided to watch it when it came up on Tubi. Lame script. Lame story. Lame direction. You can see every plot twist coming from a mile away. I write very few reviews on IMBD; this one deserved every ounce of my ire.
