This is a beautiful little Italian gem. The over all production to include photography, sets, costumes and musical score are superb and in my opinion worth several awards.
The script is very simple although not too original as it reminds of some old fashioned Italian style seen several times before over the history of Italian film making. It probably reminds of Nuovo Cinema Paradiso or La Vita e' Bella but it also reminds of old Sophia Loren's films given the importance of the female characters.
However the story is still beautifully told and it is sweet and touching in its simplicity.
The acting is superb from all members of the cast , including the children.
It is an unexpected high quality film from Netflix which in my opinion would deserve recognition from the public and the critics. An old fashioned enjoyable and very touching beautiful film. I had a little tear at the end.

It is a shame, because visually it could be ok and the storyline definitely interesting. However, the series was killed off but the incredibly painfully slow dialogues which go on forever. Why? Who wrote this script?? So boring. Season 1 was ok to watch, yes the family with kids were annoying however there were a couple episodes which were well done and almost fun to watch. Season 2 is totally unwatchable and boring. Do the writers really think it does work? Or they were just trying to fill in time to complete the boring thing? Anyway, personally I gave up on episode 3 of season 2, it was just too painfully boring to watch. I have also tried to skip to the last episode.. I didn't miss anything, it was as as bad and predictable the rest.
For me The Days is a beautifully made Japanese serie.
The cinematography is absolutely perfect. I agree with some of the comments here with regards to being slightly slow, it could have possibly been made in 2-3 episodes, but every scene is very elegant and minimalist, for me visually is a bit of a work of art.
I have found the Japanese way of acting in this film quite good, yes maybe a bit robotic yet effective.
Japanese culture, such as design in general, food, architecture and its philosophical and historical fascinating background is second to none. The beautiful minimalist calming simplicity, yet powerful in all Japanese culture is fantastic. The Days, for me reflects all this. All Hollywood style big budget rubbish lovers, probably find this boring. 10/10.
