I just love how well and how subtle this movie is.
Matt Dillon's Chinaski just hit the mark for me, as did the rest of the film, because I feel like the creators knew exactly what they were doing.
The vibe of the film, the subtleness of plot and writing with it's many transgressions, I was absolutely IN LOVE with Lilli Taylor's acting, her role, she's gorgeous but more than the that her acting is so believable.
Their relationship you pretty much just fall for them as they fall for each other. And you know it's going to go downhill, but you still can't stop.
It was very beautifully portrayed all the characters. Every scene every dialog, just right.

I ADORE FAYE DUNAWAY in this! The acting is decent all around but damn Rourke missed the mark and that bummed me out. There are hardly any movies that are based on genius author manuscripts, especially Bukowski who is hands down one of my favorite writers.
But this iteration of Henry Chinaski missed the mark for me personally. That and the whole cat fight towards the end, together they really ruined a lot of the movie's experience for me personally.
Despite the shortcomings though, it is a decent watch and when it was about the writing, naturally that hits the mark for sure.
It has some good stuff for sure, especially the direction and writing. And the cast too.
