I thought this was going to be awful as I loved the books, and the screen never usually lives up to the pictures you imagine. All I can say is I loved it. It was beautiful. Geraldine James is, as always, wonderful. And Amybeth McNulty - what a talent. She reminds me of (although has a very different style to) Claire Foy (a wonderful actress). I'm excited to see what else Amybeth brings to the screen next. This isn't to say that every other actor involved isn't amazing. They all took me away into the world of Anne with an E, which is exactly what I hope for when I invest my time into a series. Beautiful work - thank you to everyone involved in its creation.
I wasn't sure about watching this when I clicked play, but then I just sat back and let it happen. There are several turns along the way, I changed which character I was putting my bets on as the 'bad-guy' at least twice in each episode. There are sudden interjections of dark humour, too, which match the changeability of this show.
Not one to be taken seriously, but one to be enjoyed - just let it happen!

Intelligent humour underpins this film from beginning to end. Delivered in the style of a mocumentary, I enjoyed the lightheartedness of this film, which, contrastingly, highlighted ambition and strength in its female leads - something that didn't become evident until moments before the credits started to roll. Compared to other films of a similar style, this delivers a colourful, sharp and witty story which can easily be seen when viewed by an astute audience. With sweet and well judged performances by Emma Kirrage and Zak Reay-Barry, this film is well worth watching.
