This film is a loooooong snooze fest about 1950s Americans with means in Hollywoodlandia who are completely unconscious and vapid, simply drinking, acting snarky and running at the mouths the entire time. There is absolutely nothing redeeming about any of the characters. In the end, all I thought was, "Who cares?!"
The lyrics of a song by British rockers The Clash comes to mind..."I'm so bored with the USA!"
"A woman with six martinis can ruin a city." This is the most pretentious dialogue for the most pretentious people.
Don't waste your time getting anesthetized by the ennui of the bourgeoisie.

I was eagerly awaiting this show's debut as I'm a native of New Orleans and think Dick Wolf creates excellent TV shows, but...the narrator is "mighty peculiar." (In fact, the narrator just read those exact words in the narration text as I've got the show running now so I figured I'd use the expression as it's quite apropos!) How can you, Dick Wolf, hire a British actress to narrate a Southern US crime series?! That beggars belief. This whole "British actors/actresses are superior to the Americans" has reached peak absurdity as this narrator voices an extremely inauthentic, over the top, affected Southern accent. Like I said, It's mighty peculiar. And that voice ruins the experience of watching what could have been a winning concept series.
