Sudhir Mishra is a talented filmmaker who has done a lot of wonderful films in the past. This movie,at least by the trailer of it,had tremendous potential to be another masterpiece from the industry veteran. But,it couldn't live up to the standard of expectations of the film lovers. The storyline is weak in the first place, hardly any layering offered in this 'seems longer than it is actually is' movie. For some uncanny reasons, the acting prowess of the superstars like Nawazuddin & Bhumi aren't totally utilised here. Both of them seems genuinely disinterested, listless and dull throughout the 120 minutes of sheer optical & neural torture. The socio-political rhetoric which is also the main ingredient of "Afwaah" is so cliched & heavily biased, that it ends up as a mere propagandist tool and not as a piece of art. Well, isn't that the neo-normal in Indian movie business? A heavy tilt in either direction can make the director lick his ego with pompous satisfaction, but it overall degrades the ultimate ecosystem of the country's cinema industry. I think it won't be an overstatement to say that we don't need anymore Goebbels in our society. We should rather focus on raising & uplifting the golden standard which was set in the past by the stalwarts like Satyajit Ray, Addor Gopalakrishnan, Ritwik Ghatak, Mrinal Sen,Dadasaheb Phalke, Rituparno Ghosh,Vishal Bharadwaj, R. Balki, Mani Ratnam and many others. Let us create good entertainment. That's all.
One of the most pathetically scripted web series one can ever come across. It's dealing with a topic which, perhaps, is so clichéd & hyper glorified that it's a huge bore now. Actors are nothing but 2-bit amateurs. Direction is even worse than poorly managed high school dramas. Such a waste of my time! Disgusting..
This movie has made a whirlpool of emotions even before it was released & like millions of SSR's fans,I was waiting eagerly for his final showdown on silver screen. And what a dazzling performance he has given! He dived deep into his character to portray it with utmost believability. His acting prowess was always his hallmark USP & in his grand finale he has proved why everyone's mourning his sudden demise. SSR was such a rare gem that despite his untimely death, he'll forever be etched in the minds of his countless fans. He'll always hold a special place in the Hall of Fame of Bollywood.
